Arbor Day

I didn't plant any trees today, but I would like to pay tribute to some of my favorite trees around the bay area.

I have dubbed this tree "The Kissing Tree" because it has a cluster of mistletoe at the top. The above photo was taken during the winter months. Below is a photo of the same tree during summer. This tree is located on one of the foothills of Mt. Diablo.

I love how this tree is bent and stretching across this meadow that is tucked in the redwoods. It is all mossy and looks striking against a foggy background and the rising morning sun.
Here is the same tree from a different angle.

This tree is located in Joaquin Miller Park. I first noticed it on a foggy morning, and captured this photo. I took the following photo a year later.

Here is another favorite tree that grows atop one of the foothills of Mt. Diablo. The surrounding area is used as a grazing pasture for horses. It is beautiful in the summer against the blue sky and golden hills. As you can see below, it also looks beautiful against the backdrop of an impending storm.

And finally, here are a few favorites of other trees taken around the bay area.

"For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider, every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver."
